Straighten Your Smile Without the Metal
What is Invisalign
Invisalign is a teeth-straightening system that uses a series of custom-made, clear plastic aligners to gradually move your teeth into proper alignment. Instead of metal brackets bonded to your teeth, you wear a set of smooth, removable trays — switching to a new set every one to two weeks as your smile progresses.
Because the aligners are clear and fit snugly over your teeth, most people around you won't even notice you're wearing them. You can attend meetings, take photos, and go about your day without feeling self-conscious about your orthodontic treatment.
Conditions Invisalign Can Treat
- Crowded teeth
- Gaps between teeth
- Overbite, underbite, and crossbite
- Open bite
- Mildly rotated or tilted teeth
The Invisalign Process at Hagerstown Family Dental
- Consultation and Digital Scanning: We start with a thorough exam, using in-office CBCT imaging and digital scanning to capture a precise 3D picture of your teeth, roots, and jaw. No goopy impressions and you'll get to preview a simulation of how your smile is expected to look by the end of treatment.
- Custom Aligner Fabrication: Your aligners are precision-crafted based on your unique treatment plan. Each set is designed to apply gentle, controlled pressure to specific teeth, moving them gradually toward their final positions.
- Wearing Your Aligners: You'll wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day, removing them only to eat, drink anything other than water, and brush and floss. Most patients switch to a new set of aligners every one to two weeks.
- Progress Check-ins: We'll schedule periodic visits, typically every six to eight weeks to confirm your treatment is on track and provide your next sets of aligners.
- Retention: Once your active treatment is complete, we'll provide a retainer to help keep your newly aligned teeth in place. This step is important for long-term results.
